The 20 ppm ECOSYS FS-8520MFP and 25 ppm FS-C8525MFP have a resolution of 600-by-600 dpi and feature standard duplex printing, a 50-sheet reversing document processor (RADF), and a 4.3 inch color touch screen.

In terms of paper handing, the new A3 MFPs ship with a standard paper capacity of 600 sheets, expandable to 1,600 sheets.

With monthly duty cycles of 100,000 pages and 80,000 pages, respectively, the ECOSYS FS-8520MFP and FS-C8525MFP are much more robust than the TASKalfa-branded 205c and 255cSmartTech MFPs, which they likely replace.

The older models featured 30,000-page and 40,000-page monthly duty cycles. Kyocera’s HyPAS software platform is another addition to the new machines. A number of business applications come standard on both the FS-8520MFP and FS-C8525MFP, including cloud-based printing, mobile-print technology and SharePoint Connector. An optional 500-sheet finisher with three-position stapling is available.

The new A3 devices employ the same consumables as their predecessors. The FS-8520MFP and FS-C8520MFP ship with a 3,000-page black toner cartridge and a color toner cartridge rated at 1,500 pages. Replacement cartridges are available through the OEM with yields of 12,000 pages in black and 6,000 pages in color (CMY). Other consumables include the long-life ECOSYS drum, a 7,500-page waste-toner box and a maintenance kit rated at 200,000 pages.

The A3 color MFP space is one of the bright spots in today's office equipment market, and the Kyocera’s new devices will face some stiff competition.
